The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Shawn A. Williams Supervisor ofR ecords April17, 2015 SPRlS/176 Mr. Keith J. Motley University of Massachusetts Boston Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs 100 Morrissey Blvd. Boston, MA 02125-3933 Dear Mr. Motley: I have received the petition of Mathew D. Jones Esq., of the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) appealing the response of the University ofMassachusetts Boston (University) to its request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 10(b); see also 950 C.M.R. Specifically, on September 29, 2014 the MTA made a request for records regarding University operations. On November 28, 2014 the University provided Attorney Jones with a fee estimate for the provision of records responsive to his requests. On or about December 11, 2014, the MTA forwarded payment to the University. As of the date of this petition University had not provided the responsive records. Every person having custody of any public record, as defined in clause Twenty-sixth of section seven of chapter four, shall, at reasonable times and without unreasonable delay, permit it, or any segregable portion of a record which is an independent public record, to be inspected and examined by any person, under his supervision, and shall furnish one copy thereof upon payment of a reasonable fee. G. L. c. 66, § 1O (a). It has been nearly four (4 ) months since Attorney Jones provided payment for the provision of records responsive to his request. Accordingly, whereas I find that the University has ot yet complied with the MTA's request, the University is ordered, without delay, to provide he requested records in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Access Reg lations. y yours, Supervisor of Records cc: Mr. Mathew D.
