The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Shawn A. Williams Supervisor ofR ecords April17, 2015 SPRlS/178 Mr. John R. Charygues University of Massachusetts 225 Franklin Street, 1ih Floor Boston, MA 02110 Dear Mr. Charygues: I have received the petition of Mathew D. Jones Esq., of the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) appealing the response ofUniversity of Massachusetts (University) to its request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 10(b); see also 950 C.M.R. Specifically, on or about October 2, 2014 made a request for records regarding University employee schedules. On November 17, 2014 the University provided Ms. Quarles with a fee estimate for the provision of records responsive to her requests. On or about January 12, 2015 a check was forwarded for payment to the University. As of the date of his petition the University had not provided the responsive records. Every person having custody of any public record, as defined in clause Twenty-sixth of section seven of chapter four, shall, at reasonable times and without unreasonable delay, permit it, or any segregable portion of a record which is an independent public record, to be inspected and examined by any person, under his supervision, and shall furnish one copy thereof upon payment of a reasonable fee. G. L. c. 66, § 1O (a). It has been nearly three (3) months since payment has been provided to the University for the provision of records responsive to this request. Accordingly, whereas I find that the University has not yet complied with Attorney Jones' request, the University is ordered, without delay, to provide the requested records in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations. yours, Superv sor of Records cc: Mr. Mathew D.
