The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Shawn A. Williams Supervisor ofR ecords November 9, 2015 SPRlS/769; SPRlS/771 Ms. Nadra Chase City of Boston - Public Schools Office of the Legal Advisor 2300 Washington Street Roxbury, MA 02119 Dear Ms. Chase: I have received the petition of Peggy Wiesenberg appealing the nonresponse of the City of Boston - Public Schools (Schools) to her request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1 O(b ); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Specifically, Ms. Wiesenberg requested twelve (12) categories of records related to the Boston Compact. Having received no response, Ms. Wiesenberg petitioned this office. Under the Public Records Law and the Access Regulations (Regulations) all requests for public records must be met with a response within ten (10) days of the request. G. L. c. 66, § lO(b); 950 C.M.R. 32.05. The response may be an offer to provide records, a fee estimate for provision of the records, or a denial. The Schools is advised that all records custodians must comply with both the Public Records Law and the Regulations with respect to the timeliness of response. In correspondence made available to this office it is clear the Schools deems Ms.Wiesenberg's request a priority and is working to provide all responsive records as soon as possible. Accordingly, I will consider this administrative appeal closed with the proviso that the Schools provide Ms. Wiesenberg with any remaining responsive records within ten (10) days. A copy of any cover letter from the Schools associated with such response must be provided to this office.
