Lowell Town Clerk Town of Warren 48 High Street, P.O. Box 603 Warren MA 01083 Dear Ms. Lowell I have received the petition of Michael Baril appealing the response of the Town of Warren (Town) to his request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 10(b); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Specifically, On April26, 2016 Mr. Baril requested copies ofrecords specific to a Town Police Department employee. In a response dated May 3, 2016 the Town provided Mr. Baril with responsive information. In a response dated May 5, 2016 the Town further informed Mr. Baril that it would attempt to find any other responsive records not exempt from disclosure under the privacy clause of Exemption (c), G. L. c. 4 §7(26)(c). Mr. Baril contends that the Town has yet to provide him an additional response. In a July 19, 2016 conversation with the Town's Assistant Town Clerk I explained the obligations of a records custodian to respond to a request for public records. The Assistant Town Clerk indicated she would review Mr. Baril's request and work with any respective Town Department to provide a complete response. To assist the Town I will provide with its copy of this letter a copy of the file associated with Mr. Baril's appeal to this office .. Order Accordingly, the Town is hereby ordered to review Mr. Baril's request and provide Mr. Baril with a written response, prepared in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. ~ Shawn A.
