The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Shawn A. Williams Supervisor ofR ecords September 16, 2016 SPR16/695 Ms. Lorraine A.G. Tarrow, Esq. Office of Attorney General Maura Healey Executive Bureau General Counsel's Office One Ashburton Place, 20th Floor Boston, MA 02108 Dear Attorney Tarrow: I have received the petition of David Reinhart appealing the response of the Office of the Attorney General (AGO) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1 O(b ); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Specifically, Mr. Reinhart requested "[a]ll records concerning the development and implementation of the directive against 'copy' or 'duplicate' assault weapons issued by your office on July 19, 2016." In a response dated August 18, 2016, the AGO provided responsive records with certain information redacted under Exemptions (c) and (n) of the Public Records Law. G. L. c. 4, § 7(26)(c), (n). The AGO also appears to have withheld records under Exemptions (d), (f), and (n). It is my understanding that, subsequent to contact by a member of my staff, you agreed to review Mr. Reinhart's request and provide a revised response. Accordingly, I will consider this appeal closed with the proviso that the AGO provide a revised response to his request, prepared in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Supervisor of Records cc: Mr. David S.
