Williams Supervisor ofR ecords November 1, 2016 SPR16/931 Elizabeth Vlock Office of the District Attorney - Middlesex District 15 Commonwealth Ave. Woburn, MA 01801 Dear Ms. Vlock: I have received the petition of Jim Haddadin appealing the failure of the Office of the District Attorney-Middlesex District (DAO) to substantively respond to an October 4, 2016 request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § lO(b); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Under the Public Records Law and the Access Regulations (Regulations) all requests for public records must be met with a response within ten (10) days of the request. G. L. c. 66, § IO(b); 950 C.M.R. 32.05. The response may be an offer to provide records, a fee estimate for provision of the records, or a denial. All records custodians must comply with both the Public Records Law and the Regulations with respect to the timeliness of response. A member of my staff provided to you a copy of the file associated with this appeal. Further, an acknowledgment letter was sent, addressed to you, dated October 24, 2016. Voicemail messages we left for you to discuss this matter. I find the DAO has failed to respond to a request for public records. The DAO is hereby ordered without delay to review the October 4, 2016 request made by Mr. Haddadin and provide a written response to Mr. Haddadin, prepared in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order. Mr. Haddadin may appeal t e substantive nature of the Office's response within ninety (90) days.
