The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Shawn A. Williams Supervisor ofR ecords November 9, 2016 SPR16/975 Bridget Connelly, Esq. Assistant General Counsel Department of Conservation and Recreation 251 Causeway Street, Suite 600 Boston, MA 02114 Dear Attorney Connelly: I have received the petition of Wilson Dobson, P .E. appealing the response of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 10(b); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Specifically, ML Dobson requested a copy ofthe data that could match the trail heads listed in the April 2016 Watershed Inspection Report to the MassDEP, which are identified by number only, with their GPS coordinates. Mr. Dobson provided the Department with a sample copy of the trail log and the text from the DCR report to MassDEP referencing the GIS database for the trails. In a November 4 telephone conversation, you informed an attorney on my staff that the Department is actively working with its management and IT staff to provide the "specific" records that Mr. Dobson requested. It is my understanding that a written response will be sent to Mr. Dobson in the immediate future. Accordingly, I will consider this appeal closed with the proviso that the response be provided to Mr. Dobson without delay, prepared in a manner consistent with this determination, the Public Records Law and its Regulations. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. cc: Wilson Dobson, P.E.
