The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Shawn A Williams Supervisor of Records December 5, 2016 SPR16/1099 Chief James B. Riter Boxford Police Department 285 Ipswich Road Boxford, MA 01921 Dear Chief Riter: I have received the petition of Tom Duggan of The Valley Patriot appealing the response of Town of Boxford- Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1O (b ); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Specifically, Mr. Duggan requested fifteen (15) categories of records. In an initial response dated November 23, 2016, the Department indicated it does not have certain records, provided fee estimates for the provision certain records, and explained certain records may be exempt from disclosure under the Public Records Law. Mr. Duggan appealed this response. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, this office was notified that the Department provided a supplemental response to Mr. Duggan dated December 1, 2016. In this response the Department waived or reduced many of the fees included in its initial response and provided many responsive records. Whereas this matter was opened based upon Mr. Duggan's objections to the Department's initial response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Duggan may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). cc: Tom Duggan Janelle Austin, Esq.
