The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Shawn A Williams Supervisor of Records December 20, 2016 SPR16/1174 Lorraine A.G. Tarrow, Esq. Assistant Attorney General Office of the Attorney General General Counsel's Office One Ashburton Place Boston, MA 02108 Dear Attorney Tarrow: I have received the petition of Kenneth E. Reed appealing the non-response of the Office of the Attorney General (AGO) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § lO(b); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Specifically, Mr. Reed requested various records regarding the Gun Control Advisory Board. The AGO provided a September 12, 2016 response, stating that the AGO was searching for the records and would contact Mr. Reed again with a possible fee estimate. Prior appeal The requested records were the subject of a prior appeal. See SPR16/1018 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (November 29, 2016). In my November determination, I closed the appeal on the proviso that the AGO provide Mr. Reed with a response without delay. Having received no response within ten (10) days, on December 12 Mr. Reed appealed. After the intervention of an attorney on my staff, you indicated in an email dated December 15, 2016, that the AGO will provide a response to Mr. Reed "early next week." Conclusion Accordingly, I will consider this appeal closed with the proviso that the AGO provide Mr. Reed with a response to the request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at ~@sec.state.ma.us.
