The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records January 24, 2017 SPR17/045 Lorraine A.G. Tarrow, Esq. Office of Attorney General Maura Healey Executive Bureau General Counsel's Office One Ashburton Place, 20th Floor Boston, MA 02108 Dear Attorney Tarrow: I have received the petition of Edward F. George, Jr., Esq. on behalf of GOAL appealing the response of the Office of the Attorney General (AGO) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1 OA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1 ). Specifically, Attorney George requested ten (1 0) categories of records related to a directive entitled "Enforcement Notice Prohibited Assault Weapons." In a response dated December 19, 2016, the AGO provided certain records and withheld others under Exemptions (d), (f), and/or (n) ofthe Public Records Law. G. L. c. 4, § 7(26)(d), (f), (n). It is my understanding that the public records in question are the subject of a dispute in active litigation in U.S. District Court. See Civil Action No. 1:17-cv-10107. Accordingly, I decline to opine on this matter. See 950 CMR 32.08(2)(b). Sincerely, ~(fHJJAiAf!- Rebecca S. Murray Supenrisor of Records cc: Edward F. George, Jr., Esq.
