City of Boston Law Department One City Hall Square, Room 620 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Colman Herman appealing the response of the City of Boston Public Library (Library) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1O (b ); see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Specifically, Mr. Herman requested copies ofrecords used as a basis for 1) preserving the library's collections and 2) preventing the theft of the library's collections. In a response dated March 13, 201 7 it appears that the Library provided a document responsive to part one of his request. The basis of Mr. Herman's appeal is that the Library did not provide a response regarding part two of his request for records used as a basis for "preventing the theft of the library's collections." Subsequent to the intervention by a member of the Public Records Division staff, this office was notified that the Library is in the process of providing Mr. Herman with a response regarding part two of his request. As such, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed with the proviso that the Library provide said response within ten (10) business days. Mr. Herman may appeal the substantive nature of the Library's response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
