Lodge, Sr. appealing the response of the. Department of State Police (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1O A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Lodge requested information on the Department's "palm-print database" as well as "all incident reports" in regards to an incident at a specifically identified address on a certain date. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Lodge petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that a representative from the Department intends to provide Mr. Lodge with a response in regards to his inquiry on the palm-print database. Also, this office learned that a representative from the Department properly redirected the inquiry for incident reports to the proper recipient. Accordingly, I will consider this administrative appeal closed with the proviso that the Department provide Mr. Lodge with a written response within ten (10) business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Lodge may appeal the substantive nature of the Office's response within ninety (90) days.
