The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor ofR ecords April 11, 2017 SPR17/492 Captain Paul Hamilton Everett Police Department 45 Elm Street Everett, MA 02149 Dear Captain Hamilton: I have received the petition of Arthur Grenier appealing the nomesponse of the Everett Police Department (Department) to his request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1O A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Grenier requested "standard operating procedures/general orders in place regarding the retention of video surveillance by the Everett Police Department and/or the City of Everett." Mr. Grenier also noted in his request that he wished to know the locations of surveillance systems throughout the City. Having received no response, Mr. Grenier petitioned this office. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, it was discovered that the Department never received Mr. Grenier's initial request. Nonetheless, a representative from the Department indicated their willingness to provide a response. Whereas this matter was opened based upon the Department's failure to provide a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed with the proviso that the Department provide Mr. Grenier with a written response within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Grenier may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(2). Sincerely, 1J®fl/v()_ fW~WU,alJl_ U Rebecca S.
