Legal Counsel Massachusetts Parole Board 12 Mercer Road Natick, MA 01760 Dear Attorney Weierman: I have received the petition of Kevin Norris appealing the response of Massachusetts Parole Board (Board) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § lOA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, on March 10, 2017, Mr. Norris requested all emails from fourteen specifically identified former and current Board staff members during an identified timespan. Upon receipt of Mr. Norris' request, the Board issued a response in which they suggested Mr. Norris narrow his request in order for the Board to more efficiently respond. Unsatisfied with the Board's response, Mr. Norris petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. I understand that in a April 1st letter to the Board, Mr. Norris noted his intention to provide a modified response at a later date. As such, I will decline to opine on this administrative appeal. See 950 CMR 32.08 (2)(b). Mr. Norris is encouraged to also clarify what type of additional records he is seeking, or in this case, submit his revised request for records. G.L. c. 66, § lO(a)(i) (the request must reasonably describe the public record sought). The Board must use its knowledge of the records to facilitate providing any additional responsive records.
