The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor ofR ecords May 15, 2017 SPR17/665 Julian Castle Logan Dear Mr. Logan: This office has received your original request to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office (Office) inquiring for records. After reviewing this information I find that I am unable to accept your appeal. The Public Records Access Regulations, which govern the procedural aspects of all appeals, provide records custodians with ten (10) business days in which a response to a public records request must be provided. See 950 C.M.R. 32.06 (2) (b); G.L. c. 66, § lO(b). The 10-day time frame in which a custodian must respond has not yet elapsed. Though your request was dated April 27, 2017, the Office was not in receipt of your letter until May 4, 2017. Nonetheless, subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that the Department intends to provide you with a response within ten (10) business days. If after 10-business days have passed and the Department denies your request or fails to respond, you may appeal to this office. At that time this office will review the matter. Sincerely, ~ Rebecca S.
