The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records June 21, 2017 SPR17/825 Lieutenant John Walcek Wareham Police Department 2515 Cranberry Highway Wareham, MA 02571 Dear John Walcek: I have received the petition of Caitlin Russell appealing the response of the Wareham Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § lOA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Ms. Russell requested copies of "all civilian complaints filed against the Wareham Police Department for the years 2010 to the present." The Department responded to her request by providing her a list with brief descriptions of the complaints. Unsatisfied with the Department's response, Ms. Russell petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a Public Records Division staff attorney, I learned that a representative from the Department intends to provide Ms. Russell with a response to her request. Accordingly, I will consider this administrative appeal closed with the proviso that the Department provide said response within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Ms. Russell may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety days. See C.M.R. 32.08(1) Sincerely, Rebecca S.
