The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records July 6, 2017 SPR17/890 Mark Rumley, Esq. City Solicitor City of Medford 85 George P Hasset Drive Medford, MA 02115 Dear Attorney Rumley: I have received the petition of Joe Viglione appealing the response of the Town of Medford - Public Schools (School) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66 § 1O A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Viglione requested two categories of documents. Mr. Viglione requested, "All evidence of posting open meetings of the Radio/TV Advisory Committee," and, "All evidence that the Radio/TV Advisory Committee adhered to the open meeting law." In a response dated June 28, 2017, the School provided Mr. Viglione with a response stating, "The Media Advisory Committee to which you refer is a Chapter 74 Advisory Committee for Vocational Education ... The Public Access Advisory Board has yet to be appointed and established. The purpose of the Chapter 7 4 Advisory Board is to inform the Educational Program of the Public Schools. The posting of the meeting for the Chapter 74 Advisory Committee is found on the Vocational School Calendar." I understand Mr. Viglione has submitted an Open Meeting Law complaint regarding this matter. Please be advised that the interpretation of the Open Meeting Law falls within the authority of the Office of the Attorney General (AGO) and not this office. See G. L. c. 30A, § 23. In light of the pending Open Meeting complaint, I decline to opine on this matter at this time. Sincerely, ~~ Rebecca S.
