The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor ofR ecords August 10,2017 SPR17/1064 Steven Silva Superintendent Department of Correction Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center P.O. Box 8000 Shirley, MA 01464 Dear Mr. Silva: I have received the petition of Tony Gaskins appealing the response of the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center (Center) to his request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 1O A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Gaskins requested records concerning purchases made by the Center. Unsatisfied with the Center's initial response, Mr. Gaskins petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that a representative from the Center intends on providing Mr. Gaskins with a response to his appeal addressing his concern. Accordingly, I will consider this administrative appeal closed with the proviso that the Center provide Mr. Gaskins with a response within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Gaskins may appeal the substantive nature of the Center's response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
