The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records December 21, 2017 SPR17/1723 Amanda Wall Director of Support Services Lawrence Police Department 90 Lowell Street Lawrence, MA O1 840 Dear Ms. Wall: I have received the petition of Attorney Murat Erkan appealing the nonresponse of the Lawrence Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § lOA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Attorney Erkan requested records pertinent to certain Department equipment, as well as "CAD" records associated with identified dates and times. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Attorney Erkan petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that the proper agent for handling public record requests never saw the inquiry. Nonetheless, after the Department was made aware of this appeal, a representative within the Department noted willingness to provide a response. Accordingly, I will consider this administrative appeal closed with the proviso that the Department provide said response within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Attorney Erkan may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety days. See C.M.R. 32.08(1 ). Sincerely, ~~ Supervisor of Records cc: Murat Erkan, Esq.
