The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records January 25, 2018 SPRlS/110 Officer John Rinn Records Access Officer Dedham Police Department 600 High Street Dedham, MA 02026 Dear Officer Rinn: I have received the petition of Josue Andino appealing the nonresponse of the Dedham Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § lOA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1 ). Specifically, Mr. Andino requested a copy of a police report. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Andino petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that Mr. Andino's original request was not delivered to the proper agent for handling public records requests until January 23, 2018. Nonetheless, after the Department was made aware of this appeal, a representative within the Department noted their willingness to provide the responsive records. Accordingly, the Department is hereby ordered to provide a response to Mr. Andino made in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Andino may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1 ). Sincerely, ~~ Supervisor of Records cc: Josue Andino One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre• pre@sec.state.ma.us
