Director of Public Records City of Boston - Public Records 1 City Hall Square, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of a client of Steven Brooks appealing the response of the City of Boston (City) to his request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § lOA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Brooks requested two categories ofrecords pertaining to "vending permits submitted to the City of Boston for the address 160 State Street, Boston, Massachusetts from 2008 to present." Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that a representative from the City intends on providing Mr. Brooks with a written response regarding the status of any additional responsive records. Please note the duty to comply with requests for records extends to those records that exist and are in the possession, custody, or control of the custodian ofrecords at the time of the request. See G. L. c. 66, § lO(a)(ii). Said response must be made in accordance with the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations within 10 business days.
