The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records October 11, 2018 SPR18/1447 Shawn E. Cadime Town Clerk 100 Peck Street Seekonk MA, 02771 Dear Shawn Cadime: Ihave received the petition of Doreen Taylor appealing the non-response of the Town of Seekonk (Town) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.MLR. 32.08(1). Specifically, on July 31, 2018, Doreen requested “the budget report for June to close out fiscal year 2018.” In her July 31* letter, Doreen adds, “I understand there is no ‘final’ report. Therefore, I would like to see the Munis budget report which includes transfers (7/11/2018) y BOS for the month of July.” It is my understanding that Attorney Janelle M. Austin, of KP Law, spoke to a staff member of the Public Records Division on behalf of the Town. In a letter dated October 9, 2018, Attorney Austin writes, “the Town of Seekonk will be providing Ms. Taylor with the 1* quarter (q1) report once they are completed in the upcoming week, and will also make the report available online for other residents. Since Q1 just ended, the reports are still being finalized.” Conclusion In light of the Town’s response, the Town is to provide Doreen Taylor with a response to the request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations without delay. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is ~ preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us.
