The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records November 27,20 18 SPR1811668 Shawn Williams, Esq. City of Boston 1 City Hall Plaza, Room 6 15 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Justin D. Powers appealing the nonresponse of the Boston Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, 5 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, on October 24,201 8 Mr. Powers requested "day and first half shift tour bats for officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force on 4/19/18,4/20/18, and 4/21/18." Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that a representative from the Department is working to compile the requested records and intends on providing Mr. Powers with a written response. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide a response to Mr. Powers made in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order within ten (1 0) business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Powers may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records cc: Justin D. Powers One Ashburton Place, Room 171 9, Boston, Massachusetts 02 108 (6 17) 727-2832.
