The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor ofR ecords January 8, 2019 SPR19/007 Kerry A. Collins, Esq. Legal Counsel Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab 124 Acton Street Maynard, MA 01754 Dear Attorney Collins: I have received your petition on behalf of the Massachusetts Department of State Police Crime Lab (Department) requesting permission to charge for time spent segregating or redacting responsive records under G. L. 66, § 10 (d)(iv). As required by law, the Department furnished a copy of this petition to the requestor on January 2, 2019. G. L. c. 66, § lO(c). Melissa Hanson requested various records regarding the Department. Subsequent to the intervention by a member of the Public Records Division staff, this office was provided with a subsequent response from the Department on January 8, 2018 which stated the Department did "not need to pursue the fee petition since the requestor asked for the records that would not require a fee." Based upon this response, I will now consider this petition closed. Sincerely, Rebecca S.
