The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor ofR ecords May 16, 2019 SPR19/0931 Ms. Martha J. DeMaio Director- Public Information City of Boston- Police Department One Schroeder Plaza Boston, MA 02120 Dear Ms. DeMaio: I have received the petition of Tim McDonald appealing the response of the City of Boston's Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § lOA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Mr. McDonald indicates that in January 2019, Mr. McDonald requested that the Department provide reports related to incident #162051913. The Department provided Mr. McDonald the reports and summary in February 2019. Unsatisfied with the Department's response, Mr. McDonald sent a letter to this office which was received May 9, 2019 appealing the Department's response. Mr. McDonald's letter dated April 22, 2019 In his April 2ih letter addressed to this office, Mr. McDonald references he sent a request to the Department asking for clarification about the documents provided to him. Based on this April 2ih letter, the basis of Mr. McDonald's appeal is unclear. Specifically, it is unclear whether he seeks records directly from this office. Please note that this office is statutorily charged with determining the public records status of government records. It is not a warehouse for all government records. This office is the custodian of records solely related to the operation of the Public Records Division. It is also unclear what Mr. McDonald is appealing concerning the Department. Sincerely, Rebecca 8.
