The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray S11pen1/sor of Records July 10, 2019 SPR19/1364 Laura J. Harris Legal Associate University of Massachusetts Medical School 55 Lake Avenue North Worcester, MA 01655 Dear Ms. Harris: I have received the petition of Colman Herman appealing the nonresponse of the University of Massachusetts Medical School (School) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § lOA; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Herman requested several categories of financial records within the possession of the School. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Herman petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that a representative from the School provided a written response to Mr. Herman dated July 10, 2019 in which they provided partial records. Additionally, the School intends on providing a supplemental written response to Mr. Herman within ten business days. Accordingly, the School is ordered to provide said response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Herman may appeal the substantive nature of the School's response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, ~~ Supervisor of Records cc: Colman Herman One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre• pre@sec.state.ma.us
