Murray Supervisor of Records December 31, 2019 SPR19/2499 Attorney James Lampke Town of Hull - Law Department 115 North Street, Suite 3 Hingham, MA 02043 Dear Attorney Lampke: I have received the petition of Peggy Chaput appealing the nonresponse of the Hull Fire Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.LR. 32.08(1). Specifically, Ms. Chaput requested “a copy of the Hull Fire Department Incident Status Reports for years 03/29/2009 through 12/31/2011.” Under the Public Records Law and the Access Regulations (Regulations) all requests for public records must be met with a response within 10 business days of receipt of the request. G. L. c, 66, § 10(a)-(b). The response may contain, among other things, an offer to provide records, a fee estimate for provision of the records, or a denial. G. L. c. 66, § 10(b). All records custodians must comply with both the Public Records Law and the Regulations with respect to the timeliness of response. As of the date of this letter, it is my understanding that the Department is in communication with Ms. Chaput and intends on providing a response to the request for records. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide the response in compliance with the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations within 10 days. Sincerely, Rebecca S.
