The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray S11pe111/sor ofR ecords February 20, 2020 SPR20/0218 Darcy Fernandes Superintendent Athol-Royalston Regional School District 1062 Pleasant Street Athol, MA 01331 Dear Superintendent Fernandes: I have received the petition of Meghan Cote appealing the response of the Athol Royalston Regional School District (District) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 1O A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, on January 23, 2020,.Ms. Cote, on behalf of the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEP AC), requested six categories "pertaining to staff training, restraint data, calm down rooms, etc. etc ... " The District responded providing a fee estimate. Unsatisfied with the District's response, Ms. Cote petitioned this office and SPR20/02 l 8 was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, the District provided a supplemental response on February 11, 2020 addressing the issues raised in Ms. Cote's appeal. In its response, the District indicated "the request could be narrowed which would reduce the cost impact." In response, on February 17, 2020, Ms. Cote responded on behalf of SEPA C with narrowed requests for all six categories of records requested. Conclusion In light of Ms. Cote's modification of SEPAC's request, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. If unresolved issues remain, Ms. Cote may appeal the substantive nature of the District's response within ninety days. 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). This office encourages the District and Ms. Cote to continue to communicate to enable the District to provide the requested public records. G. L. c 66, § lO(a)(i).
