Murray Supervisor of Records May 15, 2020 SPR20/0719 Arielle Mullaney Executive Office of Public Safety and Security 1 Ashburton Place, Room 2133 Boston, MA 02108 Dear Arielle Mullaney: I have received the petition of Melanie Rich appealing the nonresponse of the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (Office) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Ms. Rich requested “several categories of records.” Under the Public Records Law and the Access Regulations (Regulations) all requests for public records must be met with a response within 10 business days of receipt of the request. G. L. c. 66, § l0(a)-(b). The response may contain, among other things, an offer to provide records, a fee estimate for provision of the records, or a denial. G. L. c. 66, § l0(b). All records custodians must comply with both the Public Records Law and the Regulations with respect to the timeliness of response. As of the date of this letter, it is my understanding that the Office has not yet furnished Ms. Rich a response to her request. The Office to provide a response to Ms. Rich in a manner consistent with the Public Records Laws and its Regulations as soon as practicable. request at the earliest possible date.
