The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records June 24, 2020 SPR20/0934 Sheila Clinger Secondary Record Access Officer Nantucket Police Department 4 Fairgrounds Road Nantucket, MA 02554 Dear Ms. Clinger: I have received the petition of Steve Russell appealing the response of Nantucket Police `Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, on June 7, 2020, Mr. Russell sought, “[p]olice report of the African Meeting House hate crime [and] Police report of the hit and run involving an identified boy on an identified [r]oad.” The Department responded on June 8th. Unsatisfied with the response, Mr. Russell appealed and SPR20/0934 was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff attorney of the Public Records Division, I learned that the Department responded to Mr. Russell’s request with a response sent on June 19, 2020. Whereas the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Department June 8th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. If unsatisfied, Mr. Russell may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
