Smith City of Newton Police Department Information Technology Bureau 1321 Washington Street Newton MA, 02465 Dear Mr. Smith: I have received the petition of Andrew Quemere appealing the nonresponse of the Newton Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Quemere requested various documents related to the Department’s internal affairs investigations and complaints against department employees. Having received no response, Mr. Quemere petitioned our office. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, the Department provided a response on September 15, 2020. In light of this response, I will consider this administrative appeal closed. If issues remain unresolved, Mr. Quemere may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within 90 days.
