The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records October 20, 2020 SPR20/2020 Joseph Sullivan Director of Public Affairs & Communications Massachusetts Life Science Center 1075 Main Street, Suite 100 Waltham, MA 02451 Dear Mr. Sullivan: I have received the petition of Mr. Todd Wallack, of the Boston Globe, appealing the nonresponse of the Massachusetts Life Science Center (Center) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, on September 30th, Mr. Wallack requested the following records: • “Applications for tax incentives, grants, loans, and other aid from Moderna Therapeutics of Cambridge, Mass. and Norwood, Mass. on file.” • “Documents showing whether those applications were approved or denied and the details of what was approved.” • “Any other required reports filed by Moderna Therapeutics over the past five years.” Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Wallack petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. In an email dated October 20th, Mr. Wallack stated “I wish to withdraw my appeal. The Mass Life Sciences Center has responded to my request.” Whereas the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Center’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Wallack may appeal the substantive nature of the Center’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
