Murray Supervisor of Records November 2, 2020 SPR20/2042 Chief Mark Smith North Brookfield Police Department 55 School Street North Brookfield, MA 01535 Dear Chief Smith: I have received the petition of Shawn Dee Blankenship appealing the response of the North Brookfield Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Blankenship requested records relating to himself and an identified Department employee. Previous Appeal This request was the subject of a previous appeal. See SPR20/2021 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (October 21, 2020). On October 22nd Mr. Blankenship submitted an appeal to this office and SPR20/2042 was opened as a result. Based upon a conversation between a Public Records Division staff attorney and a Department representative, it is my understanding that the Department intends on providing a subsequent response to Mr. Blankenship to address his concerns. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Mr. Blankenship with a response to his request in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations within 10 business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Blankenship may appeal the substantive nature of the Department's response within ninety days.
