The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records January 20, 2021 SPR21/0020 Greg Lucey City Clerk City of Malden 110 Pleasant Street, First Floor Malden, MA 02148 Dear Mr. Lucey: I have received the petition of Mr. Bruce Friedman appealing the nonresponse of the City of Malden (City) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, on December 8, 2020, Mr. Friedman requested “all documentation and processes regarding the computer generated selection of the Superintendents Search Committee parents for the School Committee Meeting announcement on December 7, 2020. This request includes any communications including but not limited to emails, computer systems and program selection, administration, minutes, recordings and the actual selections themselves.” Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Friedman petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. I learned that the City provided Mr. Friedman with a response to his request dated January 7, 2021. Whereas the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the City’s lack of response to Mr. Friedman’s request, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. It is my understanding that Mr. Friedman has further appealed the City’s January 7, 20201 response, and SPR21/0051 has been opened as a result. Sincerely, Rebecca S.
