The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records January 19, 2021 SPR20/0023 Gregory O’Neill, Esq. Bristol County Sheriff’s Office 400 Faunce Corner Road North Dartmouth, MA 02747 Dear Attorney O’Neill: I have received the petition of Beth Healy of the Boston Globe appealing the nonresponse of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office (Office) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Ms. Healy requested several categories of records within the possession of the Office pertaining to deaths in custody. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Ms. Healy petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. I learned that the Office responded to Ms. Healy’s request with a response sent on January 19, 2021. Whereas the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Office’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Ms. Healy may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records cc: Beth Healy, Boston Globe One Ashburton Place, Room 1719, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 • (617) 727-2832• Fax: (617) 727-5914 sec.state.ma.us/pre • pre@sec.state.ma.us
