The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records February 16, 2021 SPR21/0224 Stacy Senflug Town Clerk Town of New Salem 24 South Main Street New Salem, MA 01355 Dear Ms. Senflug: I have received the petition of Mr. Todd Wallack of the Boston Globe appealing the nonresponse of the Town of New Salem (Town) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On December 29, 2020, Mr. Wallack requested “[a]n electronic copy of the municipality's public list of registered voters, also known as the voter file.” Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Wallack petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of this appeal and communication from a staff member of the Public Records Division, it remains unclear whether the Town has provided a response. As such, the Town is ordered to provide Mr. Wallack with a written response. Said response must be made in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Wallack may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, ' ~ - ' ' - . Rebecca S.
