The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records February 19, 2021 SPR21/0347 Helene Bettencourt, Primary Records Access Officer Department of Elementary and Secondary Education 75 Pleasant Street Malden, MA 02148-4906 Dear Ms. Bettencourt: I have received the petition of Artie Grenier appealing the nonresponse of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On January 4, 2021, Mr. Grenier requested records from Farr Academy as follows: Policies and Procedures Manual, Personnel Policies Manual, Health Care Manual [and] … the student/parent manual and/or handbook if it exists. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Grenier petitioned this office and SPR21/0347 was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department responded to Mr. Grenier’s request with a response that Mr. Grenier confirmed on February 18, 2021. Whereas the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Grenier may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
