The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records March 4, 2021 SPR21/0427 Shawn A. Williams Esq. Director of Public Records Records Access Office City of Boston 1 City Hall Square, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Friedrich Lu appealing the nonresponse of the City of Boston (City) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On January 14, 2021, Mr. Lu requested the following: “[n]ames and ranks of Boston police officers whose badge numbers are: 1908, 1715, 1600, 5207, and 9208.” Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Lu petitioned this office and SPR21/0427 was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the City provided a supplemental response to Mr. Lu on February 22, 2021. In the City’s February 22nd email response they indicated that the requested information had been provided previously. Given that the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the City’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Lu may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s February 22nd response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
