Director of Public Records Records Access Officer City of Boston One City Hall Plaza, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Matthew Duffey appealing the nonresponse of the Boston Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On February 25, 2021, Mr. Duffey requested “any photographs, pictures, depictions, or description of [a named] firearm, which was the subject of a controlled purchase by Boston Police Department.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Duffey petitioned this office and SPR21/0651, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that the Department responded to Mr. Duffey’s request with a response sent on March 18th. Given that the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the Department’s lack of a written response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Duffey may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
