Murray Supervisor of Records April 1, 2021 SPR21/0656 Nelson Alves Department of Correction Massachusetts Correctional Institution - Norfolk 2 Clark Street Norfolk, MA 02056 Dear Superintendent Alves: I have received the petition of Candace S. Africa appealing the nonresponse of the Department of Correction – MCI-Norfolk (Department) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On February 12, 2021, Ms. Africa requested “…a copy of the full report and its findings that pertain to a fraudulent D-Report that was dismissed.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Ms. Africa petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR21/0656, was opened as a result. It is my understanding no response has been provided. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Ms. Africa with a response to this request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law, and its Access Regulations within ten (10) business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Ms. Africa may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety (90) days.
