The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records April 5, 2021 SPR21/0695 Malav Patel Middlesex Sheriff's Office 400 Mystic Avenue, 4th Floor Medford, MA 02155 Dear Malav Patel: I have received the petition of Andrew Ryan appealing the nonresponse of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (Office) to his request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Ryan requested records relating to “all internal affairs investigations of Middlesex County Sheriff’s employees from Jan 1, 2010 through Dec. 31, 2020.” Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Ryan petitioned this office and this appeal was open as a result. Despite being notified of the opening of this appeal and communication from a staff member of the Public Records Division, it remains unclear whether the Office has provided a response. As such, the Office is ordered to provide Mr. Ryan with a written response. Said response must be made in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Ryan may appeal the substantive nature of the Office’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
