The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records April 5, 2021 SPR21/0698 Lorraine J. Rousseau, Esq. Bristol County Sheriff’s Office 400 Faunce Corner Road North Dartmouth, MA 02747 Dear Attorney Rousseau: I have received the petition of Andrew Ryan of the Boston Globe appealing the nonresponse of the Bristol County’s Sheriff’s Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Ryan filed a public records request pertaining to internal affairs investigations of Bristol County Sheriff’s employees from Jan 1, 2010 through Dec. 31, 2020. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Ryan petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that a representative from the Department intends on providing a written response to Mr. Ryan. Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Mr. Ryan with a response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Ryan may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
