General Counsel and Chief of Staff Framingham State University 100 State Street Framingham, MA 01701 Dear Attorney McDonald: I have received the petition of Matthew Rocheleau of The Boston Globe appealing the response of the Framingham State University (University) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). January 11, 2021, Mr. Rocheleau requested, “[a]ny/all disclosures of immediate family working in Massachusetts state government that were made by individuals who applied for employment with the Worcester State University between Jan. 1, 2015 and present.” On January 12, 2021, The University provided a response. On February 5, 2021, Mr. Rocheleau then requested the “same data for the same timeframe for adjunct faculty.” The University provided a response on February 17, 2021. Unsatisfied with the University’s response, Mr. Rocheleau petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR21/0858, was opened as a result. Based upon an April 16, 2021 email correspondence, a representative of the University informed Mr. Rocheleau and this this office that the University intends on providing a subsequent response to Mr. Rocheleau. Accordingly, the University is ordered to provide Mr. Rocheleau with a response to his request in a manner consistent with the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations within 10 business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Rocheleau may appeal the substantive nature of the University’s response within ninety days.
