The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records May 24, 2021 SPR21/1170 Ms. Kathleen M. Spofford Townsend Town Clerk 272 Main Street Townsend, MA 01469 Dear Ms. Spofford: I have received the petition of Gordon Clark appealing the nonresponse of the Town of Townsend (Town) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Clark filed a public records request for certain records relating to the Board of Selectmen from November 14, 2019 to present. Claiming to not yet have received a response, Mr. Clark petitioned this office and this appeal was opened as a result. Subsequent to the intervention by a staff member of the Public Records Division, I learned that a representative from the Town intends on providing a written response to Mr. Clark. Accordingly, the Town is ordered to provide Mr. Clark with a response in accordance with the Public Records Law, its Access Regulations and this order within ten business days. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Clark may appeal the substantive nature of the Town’s response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
