Director of Public Records Records Access Officer City of Boston One City Hall Plaza, Room 615 Boston, MA 02201 Dear Attorney Williams: I have received the petition of Douglas Hansen appealing the nonresponse of the City of Boston (City) to a request for public records. See G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On February 19, 2021, Mr. Hansen requested the following video and/or audio recordings: “[1] All recordings of the interior and exterior of the shelter located at [named address], inclusive of any recordings of the area to the rear of the shelter…from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on February 13, 2021; [2] Any recordings of the entirety of Atkinson Street and the portion of Southampton Street running from and through two (2) [named addresses], for the previously referenced date and time period.” Claiming to not yet have received responsive records, Mr. Hansen petitioned this office and this appeal, SPR21/1411, was opened as a result. It is my understanding multiple correspondences occurred between the City and Mr. Hansen. However, it remains unclear whether the City has provided a response to this request. As such, the City is ordered to provide Mr. Hansen with a response to this request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Access Regulations within ten (10) business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Mr. Hansen may appeal the substantive nature of the City’s response within ninety (90) days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
