The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records June 17, 2021 SPR21/1440 Lieutenant Detective Richard P. Abate Records Access Officer Town of Reading Police Department 15 Union Street Reading, MA 01867 Dear Lieutenant Detective Abate: I have received the petition of Walter Tuvell appealing the response of the Reading Police Department (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On April 24, 2021, Mr. Tuvell requested records related to “discipline, disbarment from election work, and consultation with higher authorities” concerning an identified Officer. Previous appeal This request was the subject of a previous appeal. See SPR21/1304 Determination of the Supervisor of Records (June 7, 2021). SPR21/1304 was closed after this office was notified that the Department had provided a response on June 2, 2021. Unsatisfied with the Department’s response, Mr. Tuvell petitioned this office and SPR21/1440 was opened as a result. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, the Department provided a supplemental response on June 16, 2021. Given that this appeal was opened based on the June 2nd response, I will consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Tuvell may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s June 16th response within 90 days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
