The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records August 6, 2021 SPR21/1851 Attorney Jennifer Staples Massachusetts State Police 470 Worcester Road Framingham, MA 01702 Dear Attorney Jennifer Staples: I have received the petition of Mr. Craig P Shibley appealing the nonresponse of the Massachusetts State Police (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Shibley requested application submission dates and acceptance dates of five troopers who comprised the Unresolved Cases Unit; all UCU related emails from/to Trooper Keith Egan between October 1st - 6th (2019); and the number of cold cases the UCU has “activated” since October 2019. Having received no response, he petitioned our office. Subsequently, the Department provided a response on July 30, 2021. In light of this response, I will consider this administrative appeal closed. If issues remain unresolved, Mr. Shibley may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within 90 days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
