Records Access Officer Office of the General Counsel Massachusetts Department of Transportation 10 Park Plaza Suite 3910 Boston, MA 02116 Dear Attorney Doyle: I have received the petition of Mike Beaudet of WCVB appealing the response of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On July 29, 2021, Mr. Beaudet requested the following records: [1] …records that reveal the list of the top 100 individuals/businesses that owe unpaid tolls to MassDOT. This should include the amounts owed. [2] … records reflecting how much money in unpaid tolls has been collected by MassDOT after refusing to allow someone to renew their vehicle registration. [3] …any other data that shows methods that MassDOT uses to collect unpaid tolls and the amounts that have been collected using these methods. MassDOT responded on July 14, 2021. Unsatisfied with MassDOT’s response, Mr. Beaudet appealed and this appeal, SPR21/1888, was opened as a result. Subsequently, I learned that MassDOT provided a response on August 6, 2021. Where the basis of this appeal was opened as a result of the of MassDOT’s July 14th response, I will now consider this administrative appeal closed. Mr. Beaudet may appeal the substantive nature of MassDOT's August 6th response within ninety days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1).
