The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records September 13, 2021 SPR21/2220 Kate M. Silvia Director of Communications Department of Correction - Legal Division 50 Maple Street Milford, MA 01757 Dear Kate Silvia: I have received the petition of Justice Ainooson appealing the nonresponse of the Department of Correction (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). On August 9, 2021, Mr. Ainooson requested eight categories of records concerning “…the Mentor Program for the B.R.A.V.E. Unit.” Subsequent to the intervention by a member of the Public Records Division, I learned that the Department is aware of this request and is working on a response. In a letter dated September 13, 2021, the Department states, “[t]his was assigned to MCI-Concord for response. I will follow up with the facility.” Conclusion Accordingly, the Department is ordered to provide Mr. Ainooson with a response to the request, provided in a manner consistent with this order, the Public Records Law and its Regulations within 10 business days. A copy of any such response must be provided to this office. It is preferable to send an electronic copy of this response to this office at pre@sec.state.ma.us. Sincerely, Rebecca S.
