The Commonwealth of Massachusetts William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Public Records Division Rebecca S. Murray Supervisor of Records September 3, 2021 SPR21/2241 Jennifer M. Staples, Esq. Massachusetts Department of State Police 470 Worcester Road Framingham, MA 01702 Dear Attorney Staples: I have received the petition of Saurabh Datar appealing the nonresponse of the Massachusetts Department of State Police (Department) to a request for public records. G. L. c. 66, § 10A; see also 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Specifically, Mr. Datar requested: - Any transactions, receipts or spreadsheets that show expenditures or purchases made with proceeds from state forfeitures (asset forfeitures under state law/statutes) between January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2019. - Any reports filed with the state treasurer’s office that show expenditures or purchases made with proceeds received from state forfeitures (asset forfeitures under state law/statutes) between January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2019. Having received no response, he petitioned our office. Subsequent to the opening of this appeal, the Department provided a response on September 3rd. In light of this response, I will consider this administrative appeal closed. If issues remain unresolved, Mr. Datar may appeal the substantive nature of the Department’s response within 90 days. See 950 C.M.R. 32.08(1). Sincerely, Rebecca S.
